wealthymatters Players in the Rs 2,400-crore ,fast-growing ,Indian,online classifieds industry are freely ‘borrowing’ listings from rival sites in a bid to become the largest in their categories and attract funding. Only a few take the consent of advertisers.Not only small classifieds but large online classifieds players are also resorting to this practice.

The trend of replicating advertiser information is rampant across industries. According to IAMAI, jobs is the largest category in the online classifieds market constituting about 60% of the market share followed by matrimony (22%), B2B classifieds (13%) and real estate 7%.

Copying classifieds means saving on-ground sales staff, so a company can manage with a small tele-calling team, using cloud technologies, which scouts for listings across other platforms. Read more of this post

“You should definitely start a drop-ship business and sell things online. That’s what I did. I started an online shop for iPod accessories and made $17,500 during my first Christmas season. That was in middle school, then I kept the business throughout high school and grew it from there. Here’s the long story:

When I was in middle school, I used to look forward to getting my monthly issue of Popular Science magazine. In one particular issue, they had a how-to guide on how to turn an Altoids tin into an iPod charger. I thought this was awesome, so I went to RadioShack, got all the parts, then built it. I then took it to school to show all my friends. Before I knew it, all my friends wanted one too, so I started selling them for $20 each. Read more of this post

Salaries Of Non-IIT Engineering Graduates

There are thousands of engineering colleges in India and lakhs of freshly minted graduates pass out of them every year.Obviously this represents a wide variety of engineering talent and not all graduates ,looking for jobs,manage to find one of their choice or earn their dream salary.But even if you don’t make it to the IITs,don’t despair,all is not lost,The lakhpati salaries can be landed even in the non-IIT campuses,as long as you are in the crowd that lands a job.But do remember we are talking CTC.

Following is a list of noteworthy salaries from various non-IIT colleges:

National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal-Facebook offered a computer science student an annual salary of $135,000 (approximately 84.6 lakh) during the ongoing placements — a record for the institute. Last year, the highest offer at the institute — at $100,000 (then 60 lakh) — came from Microsoft. This year Microsoft is offering those posted at headquarters a salary of $120,000 (75 lakhs).Google is offering a salary of $100,000 (around 63 lakhs), sweetened by a 15% bonus and 125 company stock units.
