Marc Faber On Indian Equities

wealthymattersMarc Faber, the author of The Gloom, Boom & Doom report, spoke recently to Bloomberg UTV on the Indian equities and the global headwinds. Here are the key pointers from the interview:

On Indian economy:
– 2008-like fall will send dollar higher, rupee lower
– Domestic consumption remains India’s biggest story
– Growth in rural areas, population key driver

On Indian equities:
– Difficult for Sensex to cross 21,000 in next 6 months
– Expect Sensex to fall 12000-15000 in near-term
– Don’t expect India to fall below 2008 levels – Markets got oversold in last 2 months
– Would accumulate Indian stocks on weakness
– May also look at investing in Indian banks
– Impossible for India to hit new high in next 6 months
– Banks continue to operate like hedge funds Read more of this post

The Temple of Gold

wealthymatters.comThe Sripuram Mahalakshmi temple is my new find for the day.I heard about it on the TLC show ‘Oh My Gold-OMG’.The pictures are stunning.I plan on visiting the place on my next visit down South.

The temple is supposedly located on 100 acres of land and has been constructed by the Vellore-based Sri Narayani Peedam, headed by spiritual leader Sri Sakthi Amma also known as Narayani Amma.Sripuram-Sri Lakshmi Narayani Golden Temple is supposedly the largest Golden temple in the world, with over 1.5 tonnes of gold used. All the gold work has been done by artisans specializing in temple art using gold. Every single detail has been manually created, including converting the gold ingots to gold foils and then mounting them  on copper. Gold foil from 9 layers to 15 layers have been mounted on the etched copper plates. Every single detail in the temple art is supposed to have some vedic significance.

The lighting is arranged in such a way that the temple glitters at night. And the LED lighting on the ridge of the roof of the star path is lit up at night so that flights operating in that direction can witness a star on the earth.

A house of gold-a fitting tribute indeed to the Goddess Mahalakshmi!

Sri Padmanabha Swamy’s Treasure

wealthymatters.com

Gold soothes me.Money relaxes me.So I often do the accounts when I wish to relax.Being surrounded by wealth makes me feel good .BTW I don’t have to own any of it to feel good.

The past couple of weeks I have been really stressed out. There are so many things that need to be done that it’s hard to sit down and get any one thing finished before I have to switch over to doing something else.

One of the main ways I have been relaxing,is following the news  stories covering the Supreme Court ordered inventory of the treasure of the Sri Padmanabha Swamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram.

The principal deity of the temple is Sri Padmanabhaswamy ie Vishnu in the “Ananta-sayanam” posture ie in the eternal sleep of Yoga-nidra on the serpent Ananta.Vishnu is part of the Trinity in Hinduism. He is the Preserver.Lakshmi the Goddess of Wealth is his consort. The current temple was built by the erstwhile rulers of Travancore.

Here is a list of what the newspapers have reported as having been discovered in the cellars that have been opened up so far: Read more of this post
