Bruce Lee’s Chief Aim

Here’s how you can achieve the chief aim of your life using Bruce Lee’s method:

1.Determine exactly what you desire, being as specific as possible.
2.Next establish a definite date by which you want to acquire this thing that you desire.
3.Next determine what you are willing to give in return for this thing that you desire.
4.Next make a definite plan to acquire what you desire and put this plan into action immediately, whether you are ready or not. It need not be concrete. You need to start somewhere and just come up with whatever plan you can think of.
5.After this, write the results of the above four steps in a concise statement. It must include what you desire, what you are going to give in return for your object of desire, along with the time limit and plan by which you intend to acquire this object of your desire. Remember to sign it with the date.
6.Read this concise statement twice daily, once after waking up and once before going to sleep. When you read this statement, see and believe that the object of your desire is waiting to be transferred to you as and when you deliver the service you have committed to render in return for this thing that you desire.

Valuing Your Time

There are always endless opportunities for networking, investing in businesses and becoming part of new businesses being launchedĀ or simply helping out others. So where do you give of your time, attention and energy?

I have a simple formula for deciding what to do.

Decide how many hours a day you are prepared to devote to work. Then decide how many days in the year you are prepared to work. So now you know the total number of hours a year you are prepared to work.

Next find you exactly how much you made in the last three years and calculateĀ the average of these figures. Then decide how much you can realistically make in the given year.

Now calculate how much you have made on an average per hour in the past and how much you need to make per hour this year. Straight away delete all invitations that don’t promise to give you this much value. Read more of this post

Freelancing

wealthymattersStarting out as a freelancer when you are in school is one of the best things you can do to explore what you are good at.

My story: I have been a full time freelancer for 3 years, doing random things on my own, earning money from the web, funding my education and exploring what I am good at. I started out at 23 and quit at 26 for full time work. During my 3 year freelance tenure, I created websites, wrote for different blogs, contributed to technology newsletters, took up development projects from elance, WordPress gigs, small PHP sites. Even Logo design, data entry and uh yeh, Spamming (back then I thought its called marketing. I sucked at it.).

If you have never been a full blown freelancer, here are a few things you should know:

That’s The Attitude

Do not work for free. Ever. Say no to free internships, say no to extra hours after work. If you are good in something, never do it for free. And remember to regularly draw what is due to you.
