According to the Tamil Manaiyadi shastram (Vastu Sastra), the room size has an impact on the people residing in the house. It is applicable to each and every room in the house. So care should be taken while fixing the length and breadth of every single room because this might adversely affect the person who is living in that room. The good and bad effects of fixing a particular dimension for rooms in the house are given below .

Sir, Does Manaiyadi shastram apply to hotel rooms ? ( as the owner is not going to stay there and the guests are only going to stay there for a few days).
If it applies and 9 is considered bad, then which of the the following sizes 9’3″, 9’4″, 9’5″, 9’6″, 9”7″, 9’8″, 9’9″ Ok? I am having space constraints.
Don’t worry about this. Its not a big concern. At best worry about the size of the office you might have inside.

Manaiyadi Shastram for a room is considered from “wall to wall” or “wall to wardrobe” if the room has wardrobe fully on one side.

Why not pick dimensions as per the Manaiyadi Shastram? Why not be safe and make the dimensions confirm to good numbers?
Please confirm 9feet 9inch considered to be 10 feet?
15 feet 9 inch considered to be 16 feet?
Is there any problem making room size of these dimensions?
You can go ahead and make a room with these dimensions. But if you can, try to make the room exact dimensions not approximate.

Hello Keerthikja i had the same doubt which mr.arun had.your reply really cleared mine also.thank you .and i have another doubt.we are going to construct a house at the top of our hospital.lift is at the north center of the hospital building.our house will end exactly behind the lift wall which is at the north east portion of the house and lift facing towards south.after the lift area we have enough open space towards north east.is it good for the house(i.e lift is between the north east portion of the house and open space)is it ok .please help me.very much confused and worried.

Is walls are considered for measuring length & Breadth…I have a plot with dimension 22×60, Planning to build a house within 20×55….if walls 1feet each side are excluded for adi shastram my house interiors will be 19×54… extremely bad for vaastu…

You have to consider inside dimensions,excluding wall thickness.

is Manaiyadi shastram applicable for entire house as a single room?
Is it correct 20×55 as a single room size and every room inside that room should comply with
Manaiyadi shastram?
Regarding interior walls in the house, do we need to exclude in 20×55 calculation or interior walls are part of inside dimensions and we cannot exclude.?

If the dimensions with inches ex:15’7″, then how can we consider..?
Venkat,traditionally the idea was to consult the recommendations of the Manaiyadi shastram before constructing buildings.Now at best you can try to thicken walls by adding some cladding materials,bring down unnecessary walls and combining rooms,partition rooms by adding walls,work with screens etc. so that the vibes in your rooms improve.
hello there, do we need to consider the over all building dimensions also? say there are 2 rooms sizes of 6×6 and 6×6, over all total comes to be 15 (6+6+3 (3 walls of 1 feet thick))
so my total building size comes to be 15×8
No, just the individual rooms.
is this the length or breadth or both put together?
Actually these are the meanings attached to each dimension.So measure the length of a room,or consider the proposed length of a room and read the corresponding meaning off the table.Do the same for the breadth.That way you will avoid supposedly bad dimensions.
