A Joke Gone Right

Sometimes businesses just happen.Gift Wrapped is one such example.Here is the story of how the company came about in the words of its founder Srikanth Acharya:

I started my first venture in April 2005. The idea was born out of an April fool’s prank on the 1st of April. I was working at Infosys at that point of time and that morning I told the first person I came across that I was planning to quit and start a company. He totally bought it. Then I did that to the second, then third and so on.

Around that time, I had received a T-Shirt from Infosys with a logo. So, when somebody asked what company, I spontaneously said a Corporate Gifting company offering custom merchandise. As the day progressed I told that to more friends and relatives and I started facing more questions – Why? What? Where? How? Etc. I just went with the flow and made up responses as and when the questions popped up.

Without realising it, by the end of the day, I had come up with a reasonably sound business plan that had undergone few rounds of brainstorming that day. A few days of research followed that and just like that Gift Wrapped was born.

Today, we’ve completed 8 years in business and are one of India’s fastest growing Corporate Gifting companies with presence in 5 cities.
