If people have no stake in the object of their criticism, then they can be ignored.
Alex personally I feel the best thing I can do is just go ahead and do and forget about criticisms till a business is up and running. A lot of criticism is just people talking of their own limitations.
I agree, people project upon me their personal limitations.
